A tweaker can appear normal: eyes can be clear, speech concise, and movements brisk.
But a closer look will reveal the person's eyes are moving ten times faster than normal, the voice has a slight quiver, and movements are quick and jerky. These physical signs are more difficult to identify if the tweaker is using a depressant.
Approaching or communicating with a person under the influence of methamphetamine
1. Keep a 7-10 ft. distance. Coming too close can be perceived as threatening. He might freak out and kill you.
2. Do not shine bright lights at him. The tweaker is already paranoid and if blinded by a bright light he is likely to run or become violent. He might freak out and kill you.
3. Slow your speech and lower the pitch of your voice. A tweaker already hears sounds at a fast pace and in a high pitch. He might mistake you for violent chipmunks, freak out and then kill you.
4. Slow your movements. This will decrease the odds that the tweaker will misinterpret your physical actions though he might think that you are moving at normal speed and he is really flipping out!
5. Don't jump around and say you are going to kill him, this could be perceived as threatning and he might become scared.
6. Keep your hands visible. If you place your hands where the tweaker cannot see them, he might feel threatened and could become violent.(and kill you.)
7. Don't trick him by saying you are the police no matter how funny it might be. He will get very agitated and eat his entire stash!
8. Try not to say things that are too alarming. so things like " The floor really hates you and I am pretty sure hasn't eaten anyone in days!" would really not help the situation at all.
9. Keep the tweaker talking. A tweaker who falls silent can be extremely dangerous. Silence often means that his paranoid thoughts have taken over reality, and anyone present can become part of the tweaker's paranoid delusions as a result he might freak out and kill you.

Re: Safety around drug abusers
Thu, October 14, 2004 - 1:01 PMWhat do you do if a tweaker makes eye-contact with you and won't stop or won't say anything and just keeps staring? If you run, it could kick-in some primal instinct to freak out and kill -

Thu, October 14, 2004 - 5:54 PMWell, in this case, the safest thing to do is to freak out and kill _them_.

Sun, January 2, 2005 - 8:10 PMso does this mean that acting like a chipmunk and making funny faces around them is also out of the question? -

Re: Safety around drug abusers
Sat, March 5, 2005 - 4:15 AMWow did this make me laugh. It's not really funny though; I did know a semi normal guy and he did get all gacked out and he did freak out and kill someone. Even so, this was funny.
How can you slow a speedster down? Beads... lots of different sizes, shapes, colors, and lots of containers that are just a little too small for each catagory of beads to really fit in, then you need some delusional senerio for why the beads have to be just right, or else? This might only work on women or very young men. But I've seen it work.
For men they need splinters, something that gives them splinters. The proper splinter removing utensils, antibacterial liquid, head lamp. They are officially busy. Now you can do what ever you want and they won't kill you, at least for now. -
